Mountain Tourist Centre Kope lies in the extreme west and on the highest part of Pohorje above Slovenj Gradec and it is the main ski centre in Carinthia. The ski slope consists of more than 8 km of ski runs, connected with 2 ski lifts with four seats and 6 drag lifts. The difference in the height of the longest run is 500 metres. Rugged terrain offers ski runs for learners and experts. It is also suitable for competitions. By the ski slope there is a range for snowboarders. Experienced certified ski instructors make sure you do not get bored and they ensure safety.

For hikers and cross-country skiing lovers, there is 15km of picturesque, arranged walk paths that run across plains from Grmovškov dom to Ribniška koča and they offer the unforgettable view of Peca mountain and Savinjske Alps. The buildings near the ski slope, just few steps from the ski lift, offer accommodation. Besides a wide sports offer, the ski centre Kope is also a Carinthian centre of entertainment in winter months.

Cross Country Club Legen makes it possible for you to discover the magic of Mislinja valley while horseback riding. They organize field riding for experts (exam for at least rider 1 is required) and riding inside the fence for the beginners.

Fitness centre Megafit is located in in the shopping centre KaTiCa and it expands over 420 square metres of surface. Besides exercising on renowned Techogym devices, the centre also offers a wide selection of guided workouts, such as aerobics, step aerobics, HI-LO, Latin aerobics, Tae Bo, belly dance and Pilates. The fitness centre also offers kick box lessons and consultations with a sports medicine expert.

Tennis centre Murko strives to encourage people of Carinthia (Koroška) to actively spend their free time playing tennis and other activities connected with it. The centre organizes recreational tournaments, a recreational league with the license of Tennis Association Slovenia and Association of Tennis Players Slovenia, a doubles league 50+, a doubles league 60+, picnics and meetings, tennis and other workshops. 

Athletic club Slovenj Gradec was established in September 2007. It is a successor of Athletic section Slovenj Gradec, which was active from 1983 to 1995, and Athletic club Slovenj Gradec, which was active from 1995 to 1998. From 1999 to 2007 the athletics in Slovenj Gradec was carried out under the patronage of the Carinthian (Koroški) Athletic Club. Due to increasing interest for sports the local athletic club was established.

The club has gained well-earned reputation in a relatively short period of time with good work and excellent conditions for training.

Judo club Slovenj Gradec has been continuously operating since 1976. It is an unprofitable organization, which takes care of the development of judo sport in Slovenj Gradec and its wider area. Three qualified trainers and four instructors work on various sections for all age groups, from the youngest (judo kindergarten) to the oldest (veterans’ judo), and the club has around 150 active members, who regularly take part in trainings. The club is also a member of Judo Association Slovenia and it annually organises the tournament "International Judo Tournament - Koroška Open", which attracks more than 100 teams from over 20 countries and it is considered a major tournament in this part of Europe. The competitors of the club win the titles of national champions in various age categories every year and successfully represent the Slovenian colours in major competitions. On the scale of Judo Association Slovenia, the club is one of the 10 best clubs.

The dance school focuses on working with children and youth. In the last period, the dance school started organising the dance recreation and courses with adults. It also organizes various cultural and sports events. The dance school is a member of the Dance Association of Slovenia and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia. The dance instructors were educated at Slovene Dancesport Federation.

Hostel Slovenj Gradec is available to athletes during their stay, all meals included, which are adapted to their needs and desires. Sports centre Slovenj Gradec, where 18 770 m2 of surface is available for sports activities, is located in the centre of the town.

Handball youth and cadet national representative team of Slovenia, basketball youth and cadet national representative team of Slovenia, youth basketball team of Bosnia, Turkey, Macedonia and Russia, athletic youth team of Hungary as well as volleyball, football and handball clubs from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia have had trainings and preparations here in Slovenj Gradec.
